February Statistics Report Motivated by increasing home values, sellers brought 4,537 new listings to the market in February, a 14 percent increase as compared to last month and a four percent year-over-year increase. The new inventory was quickly scooped up by buyers eager to make purchases, which kept sales strong. The number of properties that sold in February was up 13 percent as compared to last month. Additionally, the number of homes that went under contract was up 15 percent month over month and saw a seven percent year-over-year increase. The decline in the number of available homes that began in July 2014 continued into the first quarter, keeping inventory at historically-low levels. At the close of February, 5,087 active listings were on the market, a one percent decrease over last month and 25 percent lower than last year.

August 2018 Market Statistics Home Sales for Metro Denver

Greater Denver Metro home sales continued to slow slightly, which is typical for this time of year, especially after a strong summer selling season. Year to date, homes sales are down just one percent as compared to last year. Most notably, sellers continued to add new listings of homes for sale to the market—4 percent more than last month. That, combined with homes staying on the market about four days longer than last month, could give your buyers more options and more time to browse. On a recent trip on I-70 to evaluate some land for a client, I was confronted with sad but beautiful image of red forests stretching for miles across the hills. The image of a red "evergreen" contrasting against the green scenery is mesmerizing at first until you take a closer look at red death destroying millions of trees in Colorado. Beetle epidemics across the western United States are becoming more obvious every season with entire landscapes turning red and brown as trees die. In northwest Colorado the beetle epidemics, triggered by extended drought in aging forests, are intensifying at an alarming rate, and there is little that can be done to stop them. Actions can be taken to protect high value areas such as ski areas, developed campgrounds and trees in people’s yards. Hastening Death: Pine beetles carry a fungus on their body and legs. Man Who Experienced Eye Damage During 1962 Solar Eclipse Gives Warning to Others

A man who damaged his eyes 55 years ago while looking at a partial solar eclipse is warning others about the risks of looking at the sun without protection. In 1962, Lou Tomososki walked home from Marshall High School in Bend, Oregon, with his friend Roger Duval, when the two stopped to watch the partial eclipse occurring in the sky. While they only looked with their naked eyes for a few seconds, the damage the sun caused to Tomososki’s vision would stay with him for the rest of his life. According to Today, Tomososki began to see flashes in his vision, similar to the spots that occur when a picture is taken with a flashbulb. Tomososki, now 70, has experienced vision problems since then, and he is warning those who want to enjoy the Great American Eclipse on August 21 to wear eye protection while looking at the celestial event. “It’s going to be over real quick and it’s not worth taking a chance,” Lou Tomososki told KGW.
